From the field

The golden chanterelle

Cantharellus californicus

The California golden chanterelle grows alongside oaks on the Pacific coast and is the largest chanterelle in the world. Turn one over and you will find blunt, forking ridges running down the stem, where most mushrooms carry true gills.

This one came out of the woods in our hands. It is the mushroom at the heart of the Mycosmia emblem, because it is the one that brings people into the forest in the first place.

Our story

Rooted in the forest. Open to the cosmos.

Mycosmia is a traveling cabinet of fungal wonders, gathering the art, objects and foods of the mushroom world in one place.

We're built around the Pacific Northwest woods we forage and the makers who share our fascination with fungi.

You can shop online, and you can find us in person at events and from our mobile trailer as the season moves.

A life spent in the woods

Colin & Louisa Disheroon

Colin and Louisa have spent much of their adult lives foraging for wild mushrooms, following the seasons through the forests of the Pacific coast.

Mycosmia is their passion project. It brings together their love of nature and their extensive background in retail business, so the shop is built with the care of foragers and run with the know-how of people who have done this before.

Colin is currently a student in the Mycology Certificate program at The Evergreen State College, and that learning feeds straight back into what you'll find in the shop.
